I started watching K Dramas in November of 2018 when my sister was in the middle of Oh My Ghostess and I happened to be in the living room for 5 minutes and got entirely sucked in. I learned that Netflix had a nice little selection of K Dramas for my enjoyment and by January had purchased a Premium Pass to Rakuten Viki to widen my options. I adore K Dramas because I can rely on them to be PG, contain a nice mix of comedy, drama, and The Feels, and because I am an avid lover of romance and most K Dramas deliver. I am also a big fan of American TV but I find K Dramas to be overall more appealing and more addicting than many of the darker drama counterparts available in the US of A recently. I choose K Dramas to watch based on recommendations from people I know and other K Drama reviewers or based on the cast list--if there is an actress or an actor I particularly like all of their dramas will end up on my To-Watch list (at least everything that's available in this region). I am always open to suggestions so if you want me to watch and review something let me know!

Boys Over Flowers

Overall Rating: A (can you possibly give this classic a different grade?)Subtitles: I watched this on Netflix and I had no problem with the subtitles, but this was before I really got into watching things on Viki and discovered Viki's more accurate and helpful subtitles so I can't speak to the comparison in this case. … Continue reading Boys Over Flowers →

Mr. Sunshine

Overall Rating: A-Subtitles: The subtitles for this on Netflix were top notch, which I think is to be expected since this was a co-production (I believe). Brief Synopsis: As the Japanese occupation of Korea becomes an increasing reality, a Korean noblewoman, a Korean born American solider, a Korean born leader of a Japanese gang, and … Continue reading Mr. Sunshine →

Romantic Dr. Kim

Overall Rating: ASubtitles: The Viki subtitles were great! As always there are a couple grammar issues that arise in translation but everything made perfect sense and was very fluent. Brief Synopsis: A famous surgeon, a doctor who blames herself for her fiancee's death, and a young surgeon who is hungry for recognition end up working … Continue reading Romantic Dr. Kim →

Memories of the Alhambra

Overall Rating: B (probably)Subtitles: I watched on Netflix and the subtitles were good overall. There were a couple language quirks but my husband, who is not a big fan of subtitles, watched with me and had no complaints. Brief Synopsis: A CEO of a big tech company in Korea learns that a kid in Granada, Spain, … Continue reading Memories of the Alhambra →

Oh My Ghostess

Overall Rating: Solid ASubtitles : I watched this show on Netflix and I found the English subtitles to be consistent and very fluent. Brief Synopsis (Kween version): A young woman is killed in a mysterious accident and remains on earth as a ghost to resolve her grudge for dying as a virgin. She finds a … Continue reading Oh My Ghostess →
